~ ENROLL IN A SHOW COURSE ~
In order to become a volunteer and participate in any SHOW program, event, or activity, all ASU students must enroll in a SHOW course:
The SHOW Community Initiative unites students, faculty, and clinical preceptors in a mission to provide holistic, client-centered health care services using interprofessional team-based care to vulnerable populations. Students, faculty, and clinical preceptors come from diverse backgrounds – ranging from nursing, recreational therapy, social work, nutrition, medicine, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and physical therapy – to business, journalism, computer science, and others.
SHOW’s community-engaged experiential learning courses offer students the opportunity to actively engage in real-world leadership and interprofessional education and practice experiences, while providing a valuable service to vulnerable individuals in the local community through outreach programs and events.
1
Community Health (HCR 471)
This experiential learning course exposes students to community health and interprofessional education. For the majority of the semester, students are able to prepare and deliver public health related presentations to marginalized populations throughout the phoenix area.
2
Complex Health (HCR 472)
This experiential learning course immerses students in “real world” learning opportunities through the delivery of team-based interventions that address health care disparities, improve care quality, and reduce care costs for individuals, families, communities, and/or populations with complex health needs.
3
Comprehensive Health Systems (HCR 473 & 583)
In this two semester course, students identify a health system problem, issue, or gap, explore current evidence and plan an intervention to address. During their second semester, students refine their plan, then implement their impact projects.

SHOW not only makes an impact on the people they serve, but the students who are a part of the organization, as well.
“When I think of SHOW, I think of actually making a difference. I see challenges. I see passion and compassion. I see humans helping humans. I see hope. The SHOW class was definitely something I do not regret clicking 'enroll' on when I was registering for classes. This class gave me an opportunity to really feel as if I am involved in helping a community and pushed me to develop skills that will definitely help me in my career goal." - Jihan, SHOW Student
